I guess my friends and I were about 13 when we caught hockey fever.
We had been skating for years at various ponds around our rural area in upstate New York, and most often at the pond that was in the back corner of my parents’ property.
The memories of those times are fond ones, a bunch of kids making like they were NHL stars, using every last sliver of sunlight and then trudging home through the snow, which often was up to our knees…..

2010/2011 Season 2ND Rink NHL-SIZED ICE SHEET
WORK ON THE NEW RINK HAS BEGUN! WE WILL HAVE AN NHL-SIZED ICE SHEET GOING THIS WINTER NEXT TO THE CURRENT ROLLER RINK. NEW BOARD SYSTEM HAS ARRIVED. GET READY FOR SIDE BY SIDE RINKS! 6:30pm SATURDAY 11/20 PM SPENCE AND DENNY ALONG WITH JOHN, JIM. JAMES, TODD, CHRIS, FINISHING 2 X 10 HOUR DAYS. 75% OF ANCHOR POINTS ARE SECURED. YOU SHOULDA BEEN THERE AT 1PM WHEN THE ENTIRE WEST SIDE BOARDS BLEW DOWN IN THE WIND. GOOD TIMES. AS OF 6PM SATURDAY, 20 HOURS OF LABOR X 6 – 8 GUYS HAD BEEN ACCOMPLISHED SINCE FRIDAY AM. THE ENTIRE SET OF NEW RINK BOARDS IS UP AND ANCHORED. IT LOOKS GREAT. THANK YOU DENNY, SPENCE, DAVID, JIM, JOHN, JAMES, CHRIS, MARK AND SHAWN.
