Ken Davis Memorial

By Philipfshaw | February 13, 2010

CPHA Dedicates the 2010 Ice Hockey Season to Ken Davis

Ken Davis was an important part of the CPHA’s Boards decision to move from Inline to USA Ice Hockey Membership.

Ken’s goal was to become a permanent member of the Chubbuck’s Fire Department and Ken’s contributions as a fire fighter made is possible to build Chubbuck’s first ice sheet.

Click Here See Ken’s CPHA Photo Album:

“The CPHA family experienced a terrible and tragic loss last night when Ken Davis (father of Brandon and Shawn in the U-14 group) died in an auto accident. Many of our newer CPHA folks don’t know Ken because for the past nine months he’s been very involved running his new business in American Falls.

But prior to that, he was a regular out at the rink and was one of the central figures in our organization’s decision to build an ice rink and purchase Zamboni ice resurfacers.

It was Ken, along with a group of other volunteers, who traveled in September 2008 to Salmon to visit their outdoor facility. It was during the trip back from Salmon in Ken’s van that the entire ice hockey concept was hatched, and it was Ken’s contributions that helped lead us to where we are today.

(Attached are two photos of our visit to Salmon. Ken is the last person on the right.)

Last winter, when we filled the pond, Ken was out by himself or with Denny and David making ice, repairing the Zamboni’s, and encouraging the kids. At last October’s ISU Homecoming parade, it was Ken who hooked up the I-pod and speakers so our Zamboni could have hockey music accompaniment. And, every August during the Chubbuck Days Parade, Ken would always don his roller hockey equipment and skate beside our float.

Our organization is immeasurably poorer today for his loss. Denny, Phil, and Shawn are close to the family and are working to help make arrangements and comfort them, but this will be an unavoidably difficult time. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.”

“Whenever he would come to visit me, even though I told him to Relax that he was on vacation, I would always come home to him working on something. He would say oh by the way I thought you need a light switch so I installed one, I also cleaned your gutters and fix the dry wall, now what do you want done next? I would laugh and say nothing for you to sit down! but the second that I left I would come home to something else being worked on. He always wanted to help no matter if he was on vacation or not I didn’t even know that ever taken a vacation he was always working on something somewhere for someone. I miss you so much.”
