SLC Advertising Companies’ Donation Prolong Ice Season

By Snapshot | February 19, 2009

Last fall, the Chubbuck Pocatello Hockey Association (CPHA) began contacting several Salt Lake City Outdoor Advertising companies with a request for some of their excess vinyl billboard material.

The idea was to use the vinyl material to line the bottom of our newly planned outdoor ice rink, with the white side facing up to reduce heat absorption from the sun, thereby preserving the ice above on sunny winter days. We’ve had several unusually warm periods this year and have been able to return the ice to premium condition within a very short amount of time.

Dewey A. Reagan, president of Reagan Outdoor Advertising, immediately responded to the email request with “Yes, we can help you”, even though he was out of the country at the time. He asked Operations Manager Vern Frazier to begin collecting some of the twenty-eight 14 by 48 foot billboard vinyls needed to cover the bottom of the 20,000 square foot ice rink.

Young Electric Sign Company (YESCO) Advertising Director Gina Stratford and Idaho Falls Branch Manager Reed Stewart also agreed their company would help the CPHA by contributing their excess materials. Gina worked diligently to accommodate the request.

When we contacted Kurt Horan with Simmons Outdoor Media his reply was “Sure, come over and get all you need”. Simmons really came through. We left Salt Lake City that day with the exact amount needed to complete the project.

The Chubbuck Pocatello Hockey Association & the City of Chubbuck, Idaho wish to extend a huge thank you to Reagan Outdoor Advertising, Young Electric Sign Company, and Simmons Outdoor Media for their generous donations.

Now the kids of S.E. Idaho and the CPHA not only “Have a Place to Play” but, thanks to these SLC companies, can play for a few extra days this winter.
